Message from the Chairman - KEMU Alumni Association

MESSAGE FROM KEMUAA Executive Committee

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and let us take this opportunity to welcome you aboard 2010 though rather late! We do hope that you are all keeping well and building the Nation in one way or another.

We have received a number of queries and concerns from most of our members in regard to the status of our University after it appeared several times in the headlines of media that there were management wrangles between the organs charged with the governance of the Institution. This was indeed a crisis that needed a quick fix.

We would like to inform all the members that the problem has since then been resolved after a new council was normally constituted and put in place by the Board of Trustees. They have since changed the CEO of KEMU and we can confirm that indeed Professor Mutuma Mugambi is no longer the Vice Chancellor of KEMU after his services were terminated by the New Council. Professor Alfred Mutema has since then been appointed as the
acting VC of KEMU since 17TH FEBRUARY 2010.

We are also happy to report that in the midst of all these management wrangles, the core function of the University which is provision of academics was not affected in any way. This is indeed good news otherwise the reputation would be greatly put into jeopardy.

We would like to assure and re-assure all the members that all is well in the Institution and we should not panic at all since there is no longer any reason to worry as the major management issues have since then been resolved by the University Council which is the body charged with the prudent and overall management of the University. As change is an ongoing process, we are optimistic that the new management will foster and enhance further the good image of our beloved Institution.

We are indeed counting on your support to assist build and improve the image of our mother institution in a positive way. We would like to get feedback on what you think we should do to promote and enhance the face of KEMU to make it the University of Choice in East and Central Africa. We believe that the solution lies with all of us and this is indeed our time to ensure that we continuously engage ourselves and bring about that change that will make us become emulated by the rest of Africa if not the world. Change for our beloved Institution will not come from the rest of the world but from us as the Ambassadors of KEMU! Let us positively challenge the management and constantly engage them whenever we see opportunities that can make the institution change for the better.

Please whenever you have any concerns or issues that you would like to share, feel free to contact us or the
Alumni Offices at the Campuses immediately.
Let us all go for it KEMUAA!!

God bless you all! Long live KEMUAA

Among some highlights that we have so far managed to successfully roll out is the enactment of a new constitution will help us govern and run the affairs of the association. The team has also managed to ensure that the KEMUAA website is active and I would like to challenge and encourage all of you to make use of the website at all times to ensure that we keep our network alive. We also managed to host an Alumni evening party cum dinner in December 2008 and the event was a huge success. We bonded and networked and just to let you know, some members have already benefited out of the exchange and business talk we had on that day.

This year we have a number of projects and events lined up. You will be receiving a calendar of events from our Alumni office and I would like you to provide your input and share your thoughts on the same. In addition, we shall constantly update you on the upcoming events and as such, I would like to appeal to all of us to make full participation and contribution to ensure that all the plans succeed. We ought to remember that institutions are grown and developed by men and women who stand up and make a difference. KEMUAA, this is our chance and times to make KEMU an institution with a difference and put it completely in a new spot in the world map! We must come together, work together as one winning team and deliver that difference to KEMU and the rest of the society. I am confident that we can do it. Let us build strong bonds and networks that will see us all succeed as KEMUAA family.

Let us all go for it KEMUAA!!

God bless you all! Long live KEMUAA

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
